Construction Supervision and Other Services
Moving from Concept to Construction
Our knowledge and experience with flood hydraulics, fish habitat requirements, vegetation conditions, and construction techniques allow us to prepare practical designs and implementation strategies for both hand and machine installations. Our emergency on-call services include assisting with infrastructure failures from forces of nature.

Problem: Urbanization and flashy flows caused severe down-cutting and bank erosion within a deep ravine while large amounts of sediment washed into Lake Washington.
Approach: After exploring various techniques, consulting with contractors, and analyzing access routes, a multi-stage approach incorporating both hand and machine methods was used.
Solution: Machines were used in high gradient areas to install boulder cascades while in lower-gradient areas; nearer to houses, low impact bioengineering features and woody material were installed by hand.
Result: The combination of hand and machine construction stabilized an actively eroding stream channel while minimizing damage to the riparian area, reducing construction noise, and reducing impacts to private property.
