Alan W. Johnson, principal scientist, has over 30 years of professional experience in stream habitat analysis and management. His work experience includes design of projects for stream enhancement, bank stabilization and fish passage, construction supervision, permit review and issuance and resource inventories / evaluations for governmental agencies and private sector interests. Mr. Johnson has developed short courses and training sessions on ecology, fish passage, and designing and implementing habitat modifications for salmon and trout.
Mike (Rocky) Hrachovec, PE, principal engineer, has over 14 years of professional experience in the evaluation, design, and construction management of millions of dollars of public works projects. His work experience includes design and oversight of projects for stream relocation, bank stabilization, bioengineering, stream enhancements, natural stormwater facilities, and wetland creation. Mr. Hrachovec
lectures extensively on erosion control and in-water construction
techniques.
Pat Trotter, PhD, fisheries biologist and historical ecologist, has more than 30 years of professional experience in coldwater fish biology and habitat relationships. His work has included watershed analysis projects, stream typing for Forest Practices Rules, the fisheries elements of SEPA and NEPA documents, and biological assessments for Endangered Species Act consultations. Dr. Trotter specializes in historical ecology studies, i.e., the reconstruction of structure and function of watersheds to serve as baselines and guides for restoration projects. He is also author of Cutthroat: Native Trout of the West.
Marcia Fischer, restoration ecologist, has over
14 years of experience as a field biologist and over nine years of
experience in natural resource consulting as a restoration ecologist,
landscape designer, and project manager. She has conducted site analyses, habitat surveys
and designed restoration and enhancement projects for
aquatic and upland ecosystems. She has a broad base of planning experience,
including parks master plans and vegetation management plans. Her
construction experience includes developing construction details, cost
estimates and construction oversight for site preparation, invasive
removal, and plant installation. She has conducted long-term monitoring and
oversight of ongoing maintenance of restoration sites.
Nick Silverman, PE, water resource engineer, has over 4 years of experience in the design and construction of natural system restoration. He has expertise in CAD, GIS, stream analysis, project management, collecting and interpreting field data, and developing design packages and graphics. He has supervised both hand and machine construction. His love and appreciation for the rivers and streams of the Northwest comes from his lifetime devotion to whitewater paddling and the ultimate hydraulic analysis it provides. Mr. Silverman currently lectures on engineering ethics for the University of Washington Engineering and Professional Programs.
Emese Lindstrom, regulatory systems and permitting specialist, has 12 years of experience in environmental consulting both locally and internationally. Her diverse background in interdisciplinary research, resource management, environmental studies, community and regional planning, and field ecology provide an important asset to our team. She is experienced with environmental compliance systems, obtaining permits for both fresh water and salt water projects, and preparing local, state and federal level submission documents including Biological Evaluations and Mitigation Plans.
